We empower individuals through culinary education and development for the food industry.


Established
in 2007

RBCI, established in 2007 under the leadership of Chef Ralph Brown Sr, is a non-profit providing students a solid foundation for developing and growing a culinary career through training and certifications. Based in Charlottesville, VA, RBCI provides food service instruction all over Central Virginia using the Servsafe@ Manager as a base course. Since it's inception, RBCI has certified or re-certified over 2,000 individuals in the food service-hospitality industry.

Our Mission Statement: Empower individuals through culinary education and development for the food service industry.

  • Product / Service Overview:

    RBCI often targets underserved communities and regions to enroll participants, who are disadvantaged/ low income adults, people who grew up in foster care and re-entry individuals. We plan to afford those participants access to business education, problem solving, interviewing, math and recipe-costing, resume, application development, plus soft and life skills.


    However, our primary purpose is to offer local food services businesses the opportunity to train and certify staff and managers in the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's Servsafe@ Manager and Alcohol Certification Programs. These program certifications will be offered in both English and Spanish.

  • ServSafe® Food Handler Certification

    People who want to work in food service must master the competencies laid out by the National Restaurant Association(NRA), and this course prepares them with the skills and credentialing that they need for food service businesses. 

  • ServSafe® Manager Food Safety Certification

    Managers learn to implement essential food safety practices and create a culture of food safety.


    All content and materials are based on actual job tasks identified by food service industry experts.
